The essentials
What is FootiQX?
FootiQX is a football quiz app for mobile, in English, published by 2M IT. It offers over 5,300 verified questions across 20 categories, 9 game modes (Solo, Daily Challenge, 1v1 live matches, friends’ tournaments…) and a monthly world championship ranked by rating.
Is FootiQX free?
Yes. FootiQX is free to download and free to play, with no subscription. Games use up energy: every day (Paris time), your daily allowance is reset to 10 ⚡; your daily allowance covers five ranked matches. Optional in-app purchases let you buy gem packs (the in-game currency) or remove full-screen ads (the “No ads” option), but you never need them and they never buy a win: you can also earn gems by playing (missions, the daily gift, achievements…).
How many games can you play a day?
Each game costs energy: one unit in Solo and the other modes, two for a ranked match, and the Daily Challenge is free. Every day (Paris time), your daily allowance is reset to 10 ⚡; it never builds up and missed days are not made up: your daily allowance covers five ranked matches (fewer if you also spend energy in Solo). There is no refill during the day. To play more, optional refills: short rewarded videos (a limited number each day), the daily gift, energy offers paid in gems, or purchases. Energy you earn and energy you buy are added on top and kept; the day’s allowance is used first, then free energy, then purchased energy. The first account created on a verified device gets 20 ⚡ in total (10 from the allowance and a one-off 10 sign-up bonus); if the device cannot be verified, this gift stays pending.
When is the app coming out? Which phones does it run on?
FootiQX is coming soon to Google Play (Android 7.0 and above) and the App Store (iPhone on iOS 15 and above). To be notified when it’s out, email us at contact@footiqx.com.
Do I need to create an account?
No: tap “Play now” and you start playing straight away with a guest account, no email address needed. It’s a real account: progress, leaderboards (under your guest username), friends and purchases. So you don’t lose it if you change phones, secure it whenever you like with an email address, Google or Apple (in My account), or keep your recovery code. You can delete your account at any time from the app (see Delete my account).
Is the app available in English?
Yes, fully: the interface and the questions alike. FootiQX is made in France by football fans, for football fans.
The questions
How many questions are there in FootiQX?
The bank contains 5,370 questions (1,434 easy, 2,076 medium, 1,860 hard), spread across 20 categories and 24 competitions: the World Cup, the Champions League, Ligue 1, the Premier League, the Africa Cup of Nations, women’s football, laws and refereeing… The full breakdown is on the Football quiz page.
Are the questions fact-checked?
Yes. Every question has been reviewed by an independent fact-checker and then audited a second time; duplicates have been removed. Every question has a single right answer, 5 plausible wrong answers and 3 progressive hints. Facts that may change are dated. And if you spot a mistake, you can report the question from the results screen.
What topics do the questions cover?
The World Cup, the Euros and national teams, the France national team, European cups, French football, leagues around the world, players and legends, managers, the Ballon d’Or and other awards, clubs and stadiums, laws and refereeing, history and trivia, African, South American, North American, Asian and Oceanian football, women’s football, goalkeepers, transfers and nicknames.
Are there different difficulty levels?
Yes: each question is easy, medium or hard; in Solo, the answer time takes it into account (20, 25 or 30 seconds) and you choose your level. A ranked match always has 3 easy, 4 medium and 3 hard questions, with 4 options, for everyone. Difficulty is never adapted to a player’s country, language, profile or level.
Playing with others
How do you play an online football quiz against friends?
In FootiQX, add your friends by username or friend code (8 characters), then tap “Challenge” when they’re online: they’ve got 60 seconds to accept, and you play a Live Match or a Time Trial. You can also set up a tournament for 4 or 8 players and compare your scores on the Daily Challenge. Matches between friends don’t count towards the league.
How does a live match work?
In a ranked match, two players face off in real time over 10 shared questions, in two halves of 5 questions: each question appears at the same moment for both, with the same options, for 10 seconds. Every right answer is a goal. The result (win, draw or defeat) moves your rating in the world championship. If nobody is available live, FootiQX automatically finds you a real player who will play the same questions later (see the next question). Between friends, the friendly keeps its original format: two 45-second halves and extra time.
What happens if nobody is available live?
You just start a match. FootiQX first looks for a live opponent. If nobody at your level is available after a few seconds (15 seconds at the earliest; later if a compatible opponent is already waiting, to favour live play), the app automatically finds you a real player who will answer the same questions later (this is an async challenge), and your match starts straight away: same 10 questions, same options, same timer, same cost (2 ⚡, charged when your turn actually starts). Your result arrives as soon as your opponent has played. They have 48 hours: if they decline or do not play in time, the match is cancelled, your energy is returned and your rating does not move; no win is ever awarded against a player who never started. It is the same world championship, with the same rating, and the match counts in the season (Paris calendar month) in which it finishes. No bots, ever: if nobody is available, live or later, the search stops and nothing is charged. No setting to turn on: any recently active player can be picked as an opponent; they see it thanks to a badge on “Multiplayer” and, if they allow them, a “… challenges you on FootiQX!” notification. A notification may arrive late or not at all.
Does my opponent get the same questions as me?
Yes. In a head-to-head, both players get the same questions and the same answer options, at the same moment when live (in turn, with the same timer, in an async challenge), drawn from a common international football programme. Nothing is adapted to a player’s country, language, profile or level: the language only changes the translation. Purchases and ads give no advantage: energy buys matches, never wins, and the rating only takes results into account.
How does the league work?
There is a single, worldwide championship, with one season per calendar month (Paris time). Players are ranked by rating (Glicko method): it goes up when you win and down when you lose, taking your opponent’s level into account. After 10 placement matches, you get your world rank. All the details are on the League page.
How does the rating change? Is playing more enough to climb?
No: the rating measures your level, not how much you play. Everyone starts at 1,500; after each ranked match, it moves according to the result and your opponent’s rating (beating a stronger player earns more). Only the outcome counts: not the goal difference, not speed, not purchases. Your rating comes with a reliability, which improves as you play and drops after a long absence.
Are there end-of-season rewards and leagues?
Not at launch: the season gives a world ranking and a record, with no end-of-season gems. Leagues are planned, but not available yet; the questions will never change with the league.
Can I play on my own?
Of course: Solo (Classic or Time Trial), Daily Challenge, Themes, Sudden Death, Career and Events are all played on your own, at your own pace. The leaderboards still let you compare yourself with everyone else.
Progression, ads and fair play
Are there ads?
Yes, in moderation: at most one full-screen ad every three finished games, across all game modes, when you leave the results screen (never after your first game), never during a question, with a minimum delay between two and a daily cap. Optional videos also let you regain energy. Ads are always non-personalised and the app does not ask for tracking permission. In Europe, a consent message lets you make your choices. Only the “No ads” option (an in-app purchase, or an entitlement granted by support) removes full-screen ads: the welcome pack, gems and energy do not.
What are gems and XP for?
XP raises your level (up to level 100) and every level earns you gems. Gems are used to buy hints (in Solo, Themes, Career and friendlies), a second chance in Sudden Death and cosmetics in the shop: avatars, frames, shirts in your club’s colours, goal celebrations and name colours (53 items in total).
How many achievements are there?
51 achievements: 17 families (Goal Machine, Invincible, Ever Present, World Cup Veteran, Tournament King…), each with a bronze, silver and gold tier. Some gold tiers unlock an exclusive item.
How does FootiQX stop cheating?
The timer is kept by the server, questions are sent one at a time and the right answer is never sent before you answer. The order of the answers is unpredictable, answers only become active after a reading time, XP gains are capped per day and the same two players can play at most 3 ranked matches in 24 hours, at least 5 minutes apart.
Can I use hints in a ranked match?
No. Hints are turned off in ranked matches, tournaments, the Daily Challenge, Sudden Death and events: gems never buy goals, only your knowledge counts. Hints are still available in Solo (classic or Time Trial), Themes, Career and friendlies between friends.
What’s the head start between friends?
When you challenge a friend, you can give one of you a 1- or 2-goal head start – for a parent-versus-teenager match, for example. It’s a friendly: it doesn’t count towards the league, rewards or your head-to-head record.
Is my data protected?
Account and game data are hosted in the European Union, on a server located in France. The footiqx.com website uses no cookies and no audience measurement tools. All the details are in the privacy policy.
