9 game modes for every football fan
From Solo to warm up to a ranked match against a player of your level, here is how every FootiQX mode works in the football quiz you play like a match.
Updated
At a glance
FootiQX offers 9 game modes: 6 you play on your own (Solo, Daily Challenge, Themes, Sudden Death, Career, Events), 2 real-time head-to-heads (Live Match, ranked or with friends, and Time Trial with friends) and 1 with friends (Tournaments). They all draw on the same bank of 5,370 verified questions.
Training
Solo
10 questions at your own pace, in Classic or Time Trial. Perfect for warming up before the serious stuff.
Solo mode is your training ground: 10 questions drawn from the whole bank, served one at a time, with an instant verdict and the right answer revealed.
In Solo Time Trial, you get 10 questions and one overall clock: 100 seconds on easy, 60 on medium, 40 on hard. Every right answer earns XP; a 10/10 in Classic earns a bonus.
- 10 questions per game
- Time Trial: 100 s, 60 s or 40 s depending on difficulty
- Up to 3 hints per question, the first one free

Every day
Daily Challenge
The same 10 questions for everyone, a global and a friends’ leaderboard, and a 🔥 streak you won’t want to break.
Every day (Paris time), FootiQX draws the same 10 questions for every player from a common international football programme: 3 easy, 4 medium, 3 hard, no more than 2 per category, mostly recent or timeless facts, and no question that has come up in the Daily Challenge in recent months.
Ranking: first by number of right answers, then by total time as measured by the server. The podium and the top 10% are rewarded at midnight. String the days together to build your 🔥 streak (milestones at 3, 7 and 14 days, then every 30 days); one joker a week covers a missed day.
- 3 easy, 4 medium, 3 hard
- 1 attempt a day, 4 options for everyone
- Daily podium: 50, 30 and 20 gems

By theme
Themes
World Cup, African football, goalkeepers, transfers… Pick your theme and earn all 3 mastery stars.
Themes mode lets you pick your pitch from the bank’s categories (those with at least 20 questions), with the option of narrowing it down to a specific competition.
Each game has 10 questions ordered from easiest to hardest. 6 right answers earn one star, 8 earn two, and a perfect score earns three. Questions from your last 5 games in the theme are left out.
- 10 questions, from easiest to hardest
- ★ 6/10 · ★★ 8/10 · ★★★ 10/10
- Choose a competition (Premier League, Champions League…)

One mistake and you’re out
Sudden Death
One mistake and the game is over. The difficulty rises and the options go from 4 to 6. How far can you go?
In Sudden Death, the game goes on for as long as you keep answering correctly. The questions get harder (difficulty 2 from the 6th question, 3 from the 13th) and the number of answer options goes up (5 from the 16th, 6 from the 31st).
After a mistake, you can buy a second chance (only one per game). Your records unlock gem milestones at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75 and 100 right answers in a row.
- Endless game, rising difficulty
- One second chance per game (30 gems)
- Global and friends’ leaderboards, weekly and all-time

From grassroots to glory
Career
From amateur club to the Champions League: 6 chapters, 48 stages and a boss at the end of each chapter.
Career is a journey in 6 chapters: Amateur club, National, Ligue 2, Ligue 1, European cup, Champions League. Each chapter has 8 stages, the last of which is a boss.
A stage unlocks as soon as you earn a star in the previous one. The further you go, the more questions (5 to 8), answer options (4 to 6) and difficulty there are. Some completed chapters reward you with an exclusive avatar, frame or name colour.
- 6 chapters × 8 stages
- 5 to 8 questions per stage, up to 3 stars
- Exclusive items to unlock

1v1
Live Match
A real match against another player, in real time: in ranked, 10 shared questions over two halves, the same question at the same moment for both. Every right answer is a goal.
Live Match pits two players against each other in real time. In a ranked match, matchmaking looks for an opponent with a similar rating, then widens the accepted gap as the wait goes on; after 2 minutes without a compatible opponent, the search stops and nothing is spent. If nobody is available live after a few seconds of searching (15 seconds at the earliest; later if a compatible opponent is already waiting, to favour live play), FootiQX automatically finds you a real player who will play the same questions later, within 48 hours, and your match starts straight away.
A ranked match has 10 questions with 4 options (3 easy, 4 medium, 3 hard), over two halves of 5 questions with a 5-second break. Each question lasts 10 seconds: 2.5 seconds to read, then 7.5 seconds to answer. Every right answer is worth a goal; level on goals, it is a draw. The result moves your rating; quitting after kick-off counts as a defeat.
Both players get the same question, with the same options, at the same moment, drawn from a common international football programme. Nothing is adapted to anyone’s country, language, profile or level: the language only changes the translation. Between friends, the friendly keeps its original format (two 45-second halves and 10 seconds of extra time) and does not count towards the championship.
- Ranked: 2 halves of 5 questions, 10 s per question (including 2.5 s to read)
- Same questions and same options, at the same moment for both
- Ranked: counts towards the world championship (rating), 2 ⚡ per match

Against the clock
Time Trial
10 questions, 50 seconds, the same set for both players: a race against the clock between friends. The most accurate and fastest player wins.
Multiplayer Time Trial gives both players the same set of 10 questions and 50 seconds in total. Every right answer pushes your score up.
To discourage guessing, an answer given less than 2 seconds after the previous one costs a point; on the third penalty, the match is lost.
- 10 questions in 50 seconds
- Answering too fast = −1 point (no guessing)
- Between friends (friendly), outside the championship

Straight knockout
Friends’ tournaments
Set up a 4- or 8-player bracket and invite your friends: 5-question duels, straight knockout, a trophy for the winner.
Friends’ tournaments are played as asynchronous duels: each duel gives both players the same 5 questions, to be played within 15 minutes. The right answer is never revealed, so nobody can tip anyone off.
The winner is whoever gets the most right answers, then the fastest total time. Empty places give the top seeds a bye. Tournaments don’t count towards the league.
- 4 or 8 places, from 3 entrants
- 5-question duels, 15 min to play
- Trophy: 20 or 40 gems + 50 XP

Limited time
Events
Limited-time events (like “World Cup Night”) with their own leaderboard and exclusive items.
Events are temporary competitions (up to 60 days) on a specific theme: as a set of questions or in survival mode, with a limited number of attempts per day.
Only your best game counts. At the end, the leaderboard is frozen and rewards are handed out once: gems and, for those at the top, an exclusive avatar or animated frame.
- Banner and countdown on the home screen
- Global and friends’ leaderboards
- Rewards for taking part, podium and top 10%

Energy, hints, gems and XP
Games use up energy: one unit in Solo and the other modes, two for a ranked match, none for the Daily Challenge. Every day (Paris time), your daily allowance is reset to 10 ⚡; it never builds up and missed days are not made up: your daily allowance covers five ranked matches. Optional refills: rewarded videos, gem offers or purchases. Energy you earn (bonuses, rewarded videos, the daily gift) and energy you buy are added on top and kept; the day’s allowance is used first, then free energy, then purchased energy. Energy buys matches, never wins.
In Solo, Themes, Career and friendlies, each question offers up to 3 progressive hints: the first is free, the next ones cost gems. In ranked matches, tournaments, the Daily Challenge, Sudden Death and events, hints are turned off: gems never buy goals. You earn gems by playing (missions, the daily gift, levels, achievements, podiums), and every finished game earns XP to level up. To keep leaderboards fair, XP gains are capped every day.
